My mom always made cinnamon rolls too - but she always got bitchy making them from scratch...luckily she found GFS, but then came graduation time and her baking and decorating graduation cakes...ugh. MEOW!

Hope you have a great Christmas anyway...and take pictures of you all downing your hot cocoa!!!

Aunt Debbie's peanut butter balls. Wow, there is a flash from the past. She was quite the confectioner in the day. I remember Ron and Deb's counter at Christmas time: dinner and dessert and her candy.

Take the good from the traditions... sounds like you are doing that. Remember what was good about them to you and make that yours. Baking cinnamon rolls gets you to do something fun(?) with the girls; make that yours. Forget about the crazy part of your Grandma.

Oh, and if any cinnamon rolls survive past Cocoa night, let me know, 'K?

@Kathi D I know, right? What else can we do? I have to carry on the traditions so the kids have something to chuck when they get mad at me. It's the Circle of Life.

You're my second blog today that reflected the other side of Christmas, and I have been feeling it too, weepy about the ones who should be here for Christmas and aren't. But I will shake it off as I always do and be fun, because I'm as fun as you, dammit.

You have great insights, and thank goodness your kids will have all the right reasons to carry on your traditions, and what's better than that? You have stopped the crappiness for them. Bless you.

Hey ab! I hear what u are saying about family tradition. We no longer carry any of ours out. I have always (nearly 32 years of my life) spent my christmas in the same house with the same people. But as u may no with everything that my brother has put my family through, everything has fallen apart. My parents are in florida and I spend christmas with my daughter. We have started our own little family memories that my daughter swears she is going to carry on with her family as she gets older. I am thankfull for her to share my christmas with!! Katie
