Nuffin’
I just want to say, just like Liberty, I’m very excited for Thanksgiving. We have friends coming to run the Turkey Trot, then we’ll be eating, drinking, and lazing around. What’s not to love? No gifts, no decorating, no pressure. Lots of busyness with the shopping and chopping and cooking and baking, but that’s not pressure. That’s just preparation for feasting. Feasting is my favorite.
I’m extra happy to run the sweet, sweet 5 miles of the Turkey Trot after my last pressure-filled race debacle. Running and I have a precarious relationship that was very much in danger of ending during the summer and early fall. It goes against all of my sports needs: I have no chance of winning, there’s no ball, there’s no one to run away from, there’s no goal to run toward (intrinsic goals don’t count for anything), there’s no opponent to mock (because I have no chance of winning). Also, the really, really good runners look anorexic, and I have a sturdy body type more suited for sports like softball and beer bonging. Anyway, running and I are hesitant with each other at best, so I’m glad to be experiencing some excitement about the Turkey Trot because I feared that the 1/2 marathon might have taken all of the fun out of it. It didn’t. Yay. Happy Thanksgiving!

And how fast can those turkeys be anyway? Certainly if they’re trotting and you’re doing even a brisk WALK, you’re sure to kick their asses.

AND…if they trotted a little faster, perhaps we would not be able to be eating them!
Just a random thought

I’m pretty excited for Thanksgiving too. I’ll be thinking about you and Mechelle tomorrow at 7:30 am, as I roll my big ‘ol butt over in my bed. Hee hee.. GO GET ‘EM!!

Debbie and I hope you and the fam had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I do love this holiday…for many of the very reasons of which you speak. Even Christmas, with all of the commercialization, is wonderful. Somehow, I manage to get by that stuff…watching the Peanuts stuff helps much! (Saw Charlie Brown Thanksgiving last week…and remembered how much I loved it!…Can’t wait for the Christmas!)
I think Beer bongs are out…I hear of this keg-stand thing…??? and Beer Pong? From the YouTube I have seen, Beer Pong appears to be quarters with ping pong balls. I don’t like it; at least with quarters, if you weren’t careful, you could be one simple constitutional away from bus fare or a sobering cup of coffee!
One last thing… So, what you are saying is, real sports got balls?
Happy Holidays!!

So if I put a big pie or perhaps a cheesecake at the finish line of a race does that count as a goal to run toward? I’m soooooooooooooooo glad we “got over” that damn disaster of a marathon…
